Namaste and greetings from Kathmandu. Let me wish each and every Christian
subscriber a very Merry Christmas and a very happy and prosperous new year to everyone.
It is approaching the end of the autumn season now. I am sure that you are either looking forward to the holiday season or getting ready to go off on your new adventures or spending this time with your friends and family.
Since the last newsletter I have spent time doing the usual administration work and networking with other tour operators from various countries and different parts of India.
Best of all, I finally managed to get out into the open!

| Shreeban Nature Camp |
Shreeban Nature camp is situated in the village of Patle, Nalang Village Development Committee (VDC) of Dhading District. It is the only resort fitted with basic amenities for tourists in the whole district of Dhading. It is some 100 km Northwest of Kathmandu. Shreeban nature camp can be approached in two ways. The first is to take a public vehicle part of the way to Bungchung which is 77 km from Kathmandu and then take an easy paced three hour trek uphill to the village of Patle. The second option is to hire a private vehicle and be driven all the way up to Patle.

Patle and the surrounding villages are on the saddle of a small hill with beautiful views. The people of Nalang have just been exposed to the trickle of tourists in their area for just four years. Patle is how most villages in Nepal were before the tourist industry started in the 60's. The surrounding villages are still untouched by the negative aspects of tourism.
The ideal number of days to spend in this pristine village is a minimum of two nights or better still three. There are several walking options, including going up to the hilltop where the locals have a shrine which has been in use for the past two centuries. On clear days the views of the snow-capped mountains is perhaps the most impressive in Nepal. Views of Gauri Shanker to the east towards Everest until Mount Dhaulagiri to the west can be seen. Amongst the tremendous views of the mountains are four, eight-thousand meter mountains from Shishapangma 8013m (the smallest of all 8000m mountains) in Tibet, Mount Manaslu 8156m, Mount Annapurna 1 8091m, to Dhaulagiri the highest at 8167m.
It is also possible to do several walks in the surrounding villages, home to various ethnic groups of Nepal. On the last night you can arrange to be entertained by the villagers with their typical Nepalese musical instruments and dances.

The final trip for this year was with two Austrian gentlemen who started their holiday in Delhi and made their way to Nepal visiting Jaipur, The Taj Mahal, Khajurao, Orcha, & Varanasi before being driven to the border of Nepal. They had a week in Nepal visiting Lumbini, two nights in Chitwan National park watching birds, village walks, elephant safari, and a boat ride watching crocodiles and visiting the elephant breeding centre. The other half of the week was spent going to Pokhara with three nights in Kathmandu visiting various historical sites.
